3. How Does PingBetter Work?
PingBetter improves performance by routing your games data through an encrypted tunnel via PingBetter Servers. These servers are optimally located geographically, relative to the game server or realm you are playing in.
PingBetter Launcher provides a user friendly method to use our service. PingBetter Launcher routes game traffic via an encrypted tunnel with packet collation (the 'Nagle' algorithm) disabled, specifically for your game data only. Therefore, unlike some other methods of improving latency, it does not impact on your overall system performance or other applications.
4. How Do I Access PingBetter?
PingBetter is accessed exclusively via our advanced launcher. The system can be anonymously tried and is fully featured the only constraint is a time limit on connectivity, which causes the service to disconnect periodically. PingBetter Launcher warns you in advance that this disconnection is about occur.
5. Only One User Is Allowed Per Account
To help provide you with the best possible service, PingBetter constrain the number of users per account to one.
6. What Is PingBetter Launcher?
PingBetter Launcher is free to download and provides an exclusive method to access the PingBetter service. The software is designed to provide maximum performance, as well as superior ease of use.
The user need not have any technical knowledge, beyond that required to play the game.
If so desired, PingBetter Launcher can be configured to launch automatically with Windows, Auto Connect to a PingBetter Server and even launch your game for you.
7. What Is PingBetter Time?
Users can trial PingBetter completely anonymously. Simply install PingBetter Launcher, follow the wizard and you can trial PingBetter quickly and easily.
This anonymous trial is time constrained, allowing users several minutes of play time, before being disconnected for a short while.
If you decide to purchase PingBetter Time, these constraints are removed.
Should you have PingBetter Time remaining; PingBetter Launcher will prompt you when it's time to renew, by giving you a friendly reminder 5 days before your PingBetter Time runs out.
8. What is an 'Anonymous Account'?
An anonymous account can be created using PingBetter Launcher and does not require users to enter any personal information, such as an e-mail address. To create an anonymous account, you simply install PingBetter Launcher and follow the on screen wizard.
Once created, this type of account can be used again and again simply by clicking 'Continue' each time PingBetter Launcher starts.
9. How Does PingBetter Launcher Select A Server?
PingBetter Launcher has two modes for selecting servers, Auto Server Balance and Manual User Select.
10. How Does 'Auto Server Balance' Work?
In this mode, PingBetter Launcher automatically selects the optimum server for you, each time the 'Connect' button is clicked for a given region. Simply select the closest region to your game server and let PingBetter Launcher to the rest!
11. How Does 'Manual User Select' Work?
In this mode, PingBetter Launcher allows the user to select a server they prefer, from a list of available options for any given game. Once chosen, this game will always be connected via the same server each time PingBetter Launcher is connected, unless the user selects another server option.
12. What Does 'Login to game with my own IP address' Mean?
For your protection, some game companies detect the geographical region which a login attempt originates from. With some proxy services, this detection system can be triggered when the user is testing a proxy service, by playing the game with the service and then without, to compare performance.
This can be inconvenient, as it requires the player to login to the game company's website to reset their account.
This feature eliminates this potential inconvenience. By default 'Login to game with my own IP address' is enabled. We recommend that all users keep this option on by default.
13. Using Your Own Proxy Service
During installation you have the option to retain the use of existing proxy software such as 'SocksCap', 'Proxifier' etc. This option installs PingBetter Launcher without its own proxy component.
Please note that some of the automatic functionality is lost by choosing this option. It is the individual user's sole responsibility, to configure their retained proxy application to capture the correct traffic, which will then be redirected via PingBetter Launcher.
14. Can PingBetter Be Used With Freeware?
No. To provide higher performance and a more secure service, PingBetter only allows access to the service via the PingBetter Launcher.
15. Is PingBetter Legit?
Yes. PingBetter uses technology that is practiced in safe and secure networking environments. The tunnelling protocol is widely used in conjunction with secure shell tunnelling and was later adopted in latency reduction, SSH tunnelling services.
